Biographical Narrative

L. Arick Forrest, MD is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology, Residency Program Director, and serves as the Director of The Ohio State University Voice and Swallowing Disorders Clinic.

Dr. Forrest obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University in 1988. He spent one year as a General Surgery Intern at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Following his Internship he completed Residency training at The Ohio State University. He completed his residency training in 1993 and then was awarded a Laryngology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The fellowship was under the guidance of Robert H. Ossoff, DMD,MD, and was a focus on voice disorders and treating the professional voice. After the Laryngology fellowship Dr. Forrest completed a second fellowship in Microvascular and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University under the guidance of Michael Sullivan, MD.

His area of interest for the reconstructive training was in post head and neck cancer reconstruction. Dr. Forrest, along with Dr. Michael Trudeau, PhD, established the Voice & Swallowing Disorders Clinic at OSU in 1994. Dr. Forrest has numerous publications and presentations to his credit and is one of a handful of specially trained phonosurgeons in the United States.
