Garth F. Essig, Jr., MD is an assistant professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery at the Ohio State University.
Dr. Essig is a second generation central Ohio physician who completed his undergraduate degree at Miami University. He obtained his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and completed a one year general surgery internship followed by residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery at the University of Virginia.
Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Essig was awarded a fellowship in the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, under the guidance of Professor William B. Coman FRCS, FRACS. The focus of the fellowship was in head and neck surgery for both benign and malignant disease including treatment of thyroid neoplasms, salivary gland tumors, and cutaneous malignancies.
Dr. Essig holds privileges at the Ohio State University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In addition to treating benign and malignant lesions of the skin, thyroid/parathyroid, and salivary glands, Dr. Essig is also available for general adult and pediatric otolaryngology.
