Head & Neck OncologyMAKE AN APPOINTMENT The program has been directed by David E. Schuller, MD since its inception in 1977. It is currently composed of 21 members from 12 departments in seven colleges. The goal of the Head and Neck Oncology Program is to develop and support research and educational activities to ultimately improve detection, prevention, rehabilitation and quality-of-life issues relating to head and neck cancer, and to further develop translational, interdisciplinary research and educational programs. View Past Research Accomplishments Over the past several years, the Head and Neck Oncology Program has grown significantly in membership, research projects, research funding and publication volume. The growth is due to enhanced interaction among members of this program with other Comprehensive Cancer Center members, and maturation of developmental exploratory projects. Head and Neck Oncology at Ohio State is a member of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), a national cooperative group that designs and conducts clinical trials on a large patient population. The Head and Neck Oncology Program actively supports the concept of entering into multi-institutional studies, pooling patient and research resources with others and participating in study committees for the purposes of analyzing and evaluating the results of the studies.
