Kara Wada, MD


Dr. Wada obtained her undergraduate degree from Rockford University and medical degree from the University of Illinois College of medicine. Following a four-year residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, she continued on with fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology at the Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is currently completing advanced training as a Medical Education fellow.



Dr. Wada’s practice focuses on treating a wide variety of allergic and immunologic conditions.  Allergic conditions include allergic rhinitis/hay fever, asthma, immunotherapy, food allergies, eczema, insect/venom allergies, drug allergies and anaphylaxis. Immunologic conditions include urticaria/hives, primary immunodeficiencies, common variable immunodeficiency, and eosinophilia.


Dr. Wada has a particular interest in drug allergy, penicillin allergy, quality improvement, patient safety and dispelling common medial myths and misconceptions.  Additionally, she has a passion for teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She is a member of the Quality and Patient Safety committee.



Although originally from rural northern Illinois, Dr. Wada has called Columbus, Ohio home for over 6 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and crocheting in her free time.
