Patient Safety and Quality

Patient Safety and Quality

In the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, everything we do is guided by a culture of quality and safety.  It is one of our five “Pillars of Excellence,” the principles that dictate our practice of medicine and patient care.

In the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, we are deeply committed to quality. We are the most highly-ranked department in the medical center, due in large part to our focus on maintaining the highest standards in patient care and research.  We have been honorably recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as the 7th best ENT Department in the nation. We are, quite simply, the best ENT Department in the state of Ohio. It is our commitment to quality that has made this possible.

Quality care also takes into consideration the current economic environment. Value becomes more important every day, as more and more patients take on the burden of health care costs.  We approach value by bringing our patients the same high standard of care, but at a cost that makes high-quality health care more attainable.

Quality would not be possible without safety.  The broad-sweeping safety initiatives followed within our medical center form the foundation for several additional safety programs initiated by our own department. These encompass safety initiatives in the outpatient clinic and operating room as well as those directed towards patients enrolled in our research studies and clinical trials.  We closely monitor safety metrics to identify opportunities for continued improvement. As a result, we remain consistently at or above target levels for patient safety. You can feel confident that our team of board-certified physicians will work hard to provide you the best care possible.

Our mission is to deliver exceptionally safe, high quality, value-based care to you.
